One of the main goals of the ICF Campus is to be a place where kids can come to build relationships. Whether playing or coaching, sharing a game together and being part of a team breaks down barriers and helps to establish lasting friendships. In addition, staying active through sport will help to promote a healthy lifestyle and provide an opportunity to develop character through dedication and commitment to their team and learning to win and lose well. The ICF campus has a football field as well as volleyball, tennis and basketballs courts available for use and we offer lessons and playing opportunities every weekday.

Two Local Boys Win at National Tournament
ICF Partner Tennis Cambodia North West took the Siem Reap Provincial team of tennis players to Phnom Penh to compete at the July National Junior Tournament. For the first time the team consisted of 2 ICF local boys who have won their place in the Provincial team through consistent training efforts and strong results in the local Siem Reap tournament events over the past year.
The local ICF boys were 14 year old Dun Dan and 12 year old Prumsonou Carlos. Both boys enjoyed being part of the tough National Tournament competition and also traveling with their Siem Reap teammates, getting a greater sense of belonging and growing self-confidence in their ability to excel when good effort is put into a goal. We hope that the story of Dun Dan and Carlos’ journey to this National Level of Competition will inspire other ICF youth to become involved in the tennis program that is operating every day at the ICF tennis facility. Free of charge for all ICF youth!
Coach Som shared Dun Dan’s mother’s excitement when he went to get the Child Protection and permission form signed at Dun Dan’s house. His mother broke into tears of joy that her son had actually been telling the truth that he had been going to tennis training each week at ICF like he said he was and not hiding from his responsibilities at home, which is what his mother believed. Som said, “she was so excited and honoured that her son had made the Siem Reap team and had the opportunity to play in Phnom Penh”.
If you don’t know Carlos and you are around the ICF campus a lot ……well… YOU MUST KNOW CARLOS! ..There is no not knowing this cheeky, happy go lucky, but very caring and sensitive young man. Not settling for watching the older Nationally ranked players train on the ICF Tennis Courts after his normal lesson Carlos continually harassed every player in the Siem Reap Provincial team – including Coach Som and Coach Scott to play with him again…and again…and again!
But after only 10 months of training his persistent asking paid off as he won the 12 and under National Boys event last weekend in Phnom Penh, his first-ever National event. Carlos not only defeated his more experienced Siem Reap teammate in the final but during the competition he was undefeated, gaining victories over boys from Kep and Phnom Penh who regularly receive private coaching.
