At ICF we believe that education is the key to helping us on our mission to break the cycle of poverty here in Cambodia. Currently, in Cambodia, education does not hold a high value for, many are not educated past the 3rd or 4th grade and in most cases parents themselves cannot read or write and end up sending the children to work rather than to school. In order to address this need, we have created an Education Sponsorship program as well as class offerings such as English and Life Skills at the ICF Campus several days a week.
In order to complement the limited Khmer education students get in school, we offer Khmer lessons on the campus as well.
As students continue their education more job options will become available and by providing English lessons they will have an even greater chance of finding work that will allow them to provide for themselves and their family long term.
Our life skills classes are designed to equip students with basic life skills that are not taught at home or school. This includes hygiene (washing hands and brushing teeth), building relationships, culture, sexuality, behavior, nutrition and more.
